I just watched the documentary “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” on Netflix. A documentary about a man who was obese, sick, and sick & tired of being sick! I HIGHLY recommend everyone to watch this documentary.
In the documentary, Joe, juiced(fresh fruits and/or veggies turned into a juice) for 60 days/60 nights. The transformation was insane! What was even crazier was how he inspired so many others during his journey. They shared their stories and the results they achieved were much more than just weight loss, those who participated also saw a DRAMATIC IMPROVEMENT in their health!
And here is how…

Thanks to Caprece who shared on Instagram: Day 1 of her juicing fast of which was inspired by the documentary. After finding out the documentary could be viewed on Netflix, I immediately began watching it. Not even 15 minutes in and I knew what I was watching was something amazing. I began to tweet about what I was seeing/learning and that led to people sharing their #juicing experiences with me, which then led to Santara of TheGorgeousIngredient.com, to introduce me to, Juice Hugger, a juice bar, that happened to be walking distance from me! (Did I mention Santara lives in another state and the founders of Juice Hugger are natives of her home state!). After finishing the documentary and doing a little more research on juicing my son & I took a nice 1 mile trek to go try it out!
The experience was super! My son tried his first black bean burger with soy cheese (he couldn’t really tell it wasn’t a cheeseburger) and had sweat potato mashed potatoes with shredded celery and carrots. To wash it down he had JUICE…REAL juice…Berry Brooklyn to be exact..he drank some of it and then said “this taste different” LOL! I’m proud that he tried it and I will surely be incorporating more black bean burgers and REAL juice into his diet!
As for me, I had the opportunity to sample 3 different juices…
Juicy Greens:
Organic kale, organic spinach, organic celery, organic apple, organic lemon, raw agave nectar, filtered alkalized water
Cucumber Glo:
Organic cucumber, organic celery, organic apple, organic lemon, organic ginger, raw agave nectar, filtered alkalized water
Berry Brooklyn:
Organic blueberries, organic blacberries, organic currants, organic lemons, agave, filtered alkalized water
I tried them and I LIKED THEM ALL! I was stunned, shocked, flabbergasted and HAPPILY EXCITED!!! I ordered a 16oz Juicy Green and a 32oz one as well to help jump start a 2 day cleanse I’ll be doing. I also grabbed a 12 oz Berry Brooklyn and even a gallon of alkalized water.
Alkalized water: Highly oxygenated water thats helps to PH balance your system.
I PH balance my natural hair as well as my skin so it’s only right my entire system gets PH balanced as well!!!
I didn’t stop there. A wonderful FB friend shared with me so much great information on juicing. Through what she shared I found the perfect juicer..FOR ME!
I could NOT more happy then how this day turned out for me. I am so grateful for social media! This solidifies my undying love for it all over again.
If you know me, then you know I truly dislike most veggies and ALL (yes I said ALL) fruits. I haven’t eaten ANY fruit since I was a child(perhaps 10/11).
I am 25 now!!
Although I was able to incorporate more veggies into my diet since starting my road to being “in the best shape of my life”, I truly wanted to incorporate more than the few I have and I’m uneasy with the fact that I haven’t consumed any FRUIT IN YEARS!!! I am SO thankful that I have found a way to get this done and get it done WELL and RIGHT!
I have followed so many of my peers as they’ve blogged about, Youtube vlogged about, Facebooked about, tweeted and Instagram’d about JUICING and I wanted to try it but I was still looking for something more. While watching the documentary, the “something more” FINALLY clicked. The something more was…INSPIRATION…it was more than just a “good read” or a “cool vlog”..it was an insiders look into someone’s life…their struggles, fears, misconceptions..that led to their enlightenment and learning..that transformed into their inspiration, acceptance and ultimately their TRIUMPH!
I have had sore throats every other month it seems. I lost my voice for days just last month during a time when I needed it most. My sight has been acting up and I have gotten insane headaches because of it. A few months ago I dealt with bloating that would at times make me feel like I was back in my 9th month of pregnancy with my son (it seems to have gone away after taking out so many processed foods, red meat and sweets from my diet) but I knew my lack of fruits/veggies wasn’t helping.
I wasn’t fit. I am working towards being fit now…
Looks can be deceiving…SLIM does not equate to BEING FIT!
Juicing may not be the end all answer but its a HEALTHY CHOICE…and I am super excited to incorporate the phenomenon of “micronutrients” into my diet…my lifestyle…my L I F E…
